Amorgos revisited: Maro & Andreas’ Greek wedding

Andreas and Maro asked if I could come to shoot their wedding in Amorgos and it was an immediate yes, having visited this wonderful and usually windswept Island several times before. There were two things I didn’t know. The first was that Maro was in fact a documentary filmmaker herself, her most recent film in fact about Amorgos. So that raised the bar already. But then I found out that their chosen place of preparation were the lovely houses of an Italian in the village of Langada, where I had actually stayed with my family on a previous visit. This, and the fact that the two of them are the most easy-going and laid back people put me much more at ease about that task of documenting this day in photo and video.

The highlight posted here was created specifically for this blog post out of a longer version, and it was a joy to revisit their day. Amorgos is grounded yet mysterious, and an essential visit if you want to get a feeling for the authentic Cycladic Island life. Hope this video lifts the veil a bit .
