Sarah & Eric’s intimate naxos wedding

Having captured weddings for the past 14 years we’ve been witnesses to all kinds of ceremonies. Lavish destination weddings were promoted by wedding magazines and blogs as the ultimate luxury, and us wedding creatives willingly helped to sell that ideal. And then something happened that changed everyone’s perspectives.

A global pandemic stopped the wedding industry in its tracks. As vaccines finally enabled us to emerge again, limitations were still in place on the size and number of participants. And so the small, intimate wedding brought us back to basics, and it was an eye-opener. Initial travel restrictions meant celebrations remained local, and later the postponed destination weddings slimmed down to closest friends and families.

Sarah and Eric’s Naxos wedding was a beautiful example of that. In an unusually quiet July, a simple seaside ceremony with poems and vows, a walk to the venue where a delicious dinner was served under the cedar trees of Yucca restaurant, a small party next to the pool. When you have to reevaluate what is most important, you see the bigger picture.
